The Motherland
For most Africans living in the United States this is an issue they have dealt with at some point in their lives. It’s the ever so infamous “do you guys have giraffes in your backyards” question. I mean, one would think the greatest nation in the world would play host to a majority learned population but for some reason this is not the case considering these sad experiences were lived during our college years. What happens when you can’t count on the educated to be educated? I doubt that I need to dwell on this ignorance any longer but focus more on my role in the enlightenment process by providing pictures of Metropolis Nigeria and the various non giraffe infested areas.

So contrary to what you see on the discovery channel, we Africans also experience similar living conditions to what is observed in the western world, sometimes even better. I do not claim that all of Nigeria is urban neither do I believe that all of Arkansas looks like Manhattan. I just want to play my role in creating some awareness of the environment surrounding the United States. If we don’t do these things who do we expect would do it? The Media?
